D&DS&BL Week 9 match reports

No League matches this week as both A & B Teams vie for a place in the 3rd Round of the Jim Taylor Cup!

The A Team make it through Round 2 by winning 3-2 at home to Kennington!  Tom is drawn first & plays their Captain, Martin Clements (ex of Didcot Con... back in the day!) & in a tight frame, Martin edges it on the pink 42-29.  Captain redresses the 0-1 to a 1-1, largely due to a 'hard work' 23 break, finally winning 65-28 v Keith Hollis.  VC makes 48 (in 6 visits of 8!) in a resounding 52-8 win over Paul Andrews (who has a very rare carbon fibre cue!).  It's Cuz who gets the glory leg & wins (convincingly) 64-3 v A. Richards to put the A Team through!  Poor old Anchorman (with other things on his mind & the 'job' already done) dips in a 'dead rubber' v Neil Buckingham who slots in a nice 15 break & a clearance of 18 to win on the pink 54-39!  Unlucky Dave, but it don't matter... a win's a win in the Cup!

Well done lads & keep sharp as we're away in the 1st Round of the John Evans Cup next week to Crown Technology!

The B Team also progress through Round 2, also winning 3-2, this time away to Marlborough B.  'New Boy' David Rowe starts with a resounding 50-24 win over Martin Harvey & 'Top Percentage B Team player' Brian Orton wins 46-21 v D. Clark to make it 2-0.  A slight stutter from Andy as he loses the third frame 22-57 to C. Ashton.  Rob House seals the team win by getting the glory leg & wins his frame (convincingly) 47-7 v T. Fisher!  Poor Captain Kev dips in a 'dead rubber' 46-54 v M. Burton... ...hmm, haven't I just written a similar report above?

Well done B Team & enjoy your 'week off' next week with your BYE in the 1st Round of the John Evans Cup!
