New season is just 2 weeks away!

Afternoon Gents,

Captains Meeting last nite & finally got the fixture list.

I'll hand out individual copies at first match, but it's posted on the Snooker Notice Board in the Club & will also be posted on the Comrades Snooker page (when Will gets round to it!).

Vic Hartley is making a good recovery, but is still in hospital following a collapse of his replaced hip! I'm sure you join me in wishing him well & a speedy recovery (& not too much pain inflicted by the Physio-Terrorists!).

Now the disappointing news...
Wantage were hoping to put in 2 teams this year, but yesterday pulled out of the League completely!

Sad that one of the founding Clubs of the D&DS&BL now can't even field 1 team.

Get sharp & see you all soon.

And the start of the 2014-15 season is rapidly approaching!

Time to dust off those cues Gents... & get some practice!

Your Wallingford Comrades Club Snooker Rep has just got back from the D&DS&BL Reps Meeting & the dates for your diary are as follows...

27th August 2014 - Captains Meeting at Marlborough Club at 7.30

10th September 2014 - Week 1 of the new season!

Unfortunately I am unable to give you the usual Calendar & Fixtures Schedules as poor Vic 'Legend' Hartley is currently residing in Gloucester Hospital!  He had his hip give way (the one he had replaced - apparently it's come loose!) about 5 days ago & is currently waiting for the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford to get a spare bed so he can be transferred... & give the Gloucester Hospital nurses a rest!

The Committee have assured the Reps that they will have the Calendar & Fixtures by the Captains Meeting, but in the meantime, if any of you are on FaceBook, I'm sure Vic would love to hear from you!  In the meantime, I'm sure you'll all join with me in wishing him a speedy recovery!

On another sad, but also disappointing note, the D&DS&BL Committee announced tonight that Dan Sheridan has been removed from his role as Treasurer & banned from all participation in the League for life!  This follows appropriation (theft) of £817.41 from the D&DS&BL coffers.  Due to diligence by the Committee, irregularities were noticed in the monies & they had the onerous & unenviable task of informing the Police.  Dan was arrested, interviewed & bailed, being given due time to pay the outstanding money to avoid court.  He failed to do this & subsequently appeared at Oxford Magistrates Court on 25/07/2014 where he pleaded Guilty to the charge.  He was sentenced to 120 hours unpaid Community Service (supervised) & ordered to pay Compensation to the D&DS&BL for the amount taken, full report on this link:

I don't really know what to say about this...
