D&DS&BL Week 5 match reports

Wallingford A Team return to league competition this week after 2 weeks of byes & face a home fixture v Wantage.
Tom opts to start 1st (he likes to play 'odd' frames... NO, not that sort of odd frame... as in 1, 3 or 5... I think!) & builds up a 40 point lead but gets 'pipped at the post' losing on the black, 57-53 v Phil Hall (no, not that Phil Hall... who's now 'sharking' in Devon's waters!).
Pete plays Matt Todd in the 2nd frame in the 'Battle of the Gooners' & after some erratic play by both players, wins 63-27.
In the 3rd frame Nigel (or VC as he's also known) plays a blinder v Sean Dorrian & wins convincingly, 64-20.
Kev (Cuz) hammers Duncan Nielson 64-20 in the 4th to (hopefully) exorcise his 'home hoodo'!  It's just a table Cuz!
With the win ensured, Anchorman Dave goes on against his old adversary, Ian 'Sid' Barnes & after some outrageous flukes (it wouldn't be frame without one, eh Dave?!... but 5!!!???  Or was it 6?) it goes down to the last few colours.  With victory beckoning, Dave pots an easy yellow & plays an incredible amount of top right to fizz the cue ball down for the green!  Shot of the night, no doubt!  However, Dave eventually loses out to a fantastic long pink by Sid (after Dave had attempted to cut in the pink but went 'in-off').
So a 3-2 win it is!

The B Team visit Abingdon RBL & unfortunately only gain 1 point as they lose 1-4.
Captain Kev lost the first frame 24-57 to Keith Bennett & Pete lost the second 23-52 against Paul Archer.
It wasn't until frame 3 that Brian 'stopped the rot', beating Phil Skinner by a convincing 51-27.
Rob lost a close 4th frame by 35-44 to Nigel Archer (Captain Kev informs me that Rob made an error in his score & with 3 balls left on the table & being only 8 points behind, he thought he needed snookers!  It's amazing what happens to a normally sound brain in a snooker match?  Either that or Rob was drinking some damn strong beer!!!).
In the final frame Andy lost to Doug Young 25-68.
You're still equal 3rd in the Division though lads!

With both A & B Teams having BYES in the 1st round of the Jim Taylor Cup, there are no Team matches next week... so an ideal opportunity to get some League & Club fixtures played out!
