WCC Centenary Snooker Post #21
With only 2 weeks to go until our Centenary Event, the Steve Davis Snooker Exhibition Night on Sunday 23rd June, I thought it appropriate to remember past exhibition nights at Wallingford Comrades Club.
Steve will not be the first World Champion to give an exhibition at the Comrades Club. Here is a wonderful picture of Alex 'Hurricane' Higgins (World Champion 1972 & 1982) & Ray Reardon (World Champion 1970, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1975 & 1978) together with our then Chairman, Derek Hawkins (far left) & their Professional Referee, Len Walker (far right). To have not one, but two World Champions in our Club... wow!
The Centenary Committee, especially Gavin Twigg who 'owns' Steve 'The Nugget' Davis Exhibition Event have been working very hard with arranging it & all the associated logistical issues which have been numerous.
