WCC Centenary Post #10

Can you identify the person in the picture?

Ok, so the big fella on the right is quite easily identifiable for those who know their darts.  None other than the first winner of the World Professional Darts Championship back in 1978, Leighton 'Marathon Man' Rees.  Leighton was from Glamorgan, Wales & sadly passed away in June 2003.

The picture was taken some time in the late 1970s at the ABM (Associated British Maltsters) Sports Club, when the moustachioed young dude on the left was playing Darts 5 nights a week & in his mid 20s.  He is a long-standing member of the Wallingford Comrades Club & is also an ex-C Team player (during the Kevin Pickworth/Adam Beasley Captaincy era).  Any guesses?

As always, feel free to message me with any contributions of your own which you may have (photographs, newspaper cuttings, etc.) & I'll add them to the feeds.
