A Team win the John Evans Cup 3-2 v Oracle at RAF Benson! Cuz is drawn to open v Pom Merola & after a scrappy start, knocks in a timely 23 break. Pom comes back & looks set for an almost impossible clearance of the colours, only to over-cut the black, which Cuz drops in for a 59-53 win. Tom faces Ollie Hoeblyn & starts well, potting crisply (& getting the 7 points he needed for the 'Golden 1,000!). Ollie comes back at him & then lays a tricky snooker which turned the frame in his favour. Tom fights valiantly for a snooker on the last red, but Ollie pots it & wins, 53-91. Captain faces Ben Rowland & misses a couple of chances before Ben slots in a lovely 46 break. Captain takes 2 of the last 3 reds with colours before trying for a snooker when Ben turns on the exhibition shots for a 27-81 win to put Oracle 1-2 up. Dave plays Stu Fenwick & its a long tactical frame as the yellow ends up over the corner pocket surrounded by reds. He turns down several offers of a re-rack & toughs it out, ventually potting a lovely long blue in the green bag & holds for pink off the spot, (using ALL the pocket!) to secure the win, 59-44 to level the match & take it to a decider. Phil is the Anchor-man & knocks in an early 28 break v Frankie Merola, who fights back until Phil knocks in another break, a timely 25 to gap his opponent & then lays a snooker. After 2 failed attempts, Frankie concedes as Phil wins 79-28 to secure the Cup, following on nicely from his Premiership Title winning League frame. Well done A Team, at the Double! More of the same next week in the Jim Taylor Final at Fawley please. Same opponents!
