A Team start 2017 with a visit to Challow RBL & win 1-4. Bakes opens & is immediately on the back foot as Jason O'Hanlon knocks in some sublime pots. Bakes fights back & takes the lead, but it goes down to the colours & Bakes wins on the black, 46-55. Captain plays Matt Todd & knocks in a 20 in a 26-64 win. Cuz pulls the plum & plays well v Adam Bruce who chips away an initial deficit, stealing it on the pink, 57-44. Tom has a dour frame v Matt Dixey & doesn't spark until he knocks in a 25 clearance to win, 24-60. Rowey was without an opponent until Mark 'Whinge' Kendall (ex-Wantage A, Premier Champions) dusts off his cue & it's the frame of the night. Rowey knocks in a lovely opening 31 break, which Whinge responds to with a 29. It's then nip & tuck & Rowey wins potting the brown & blue, 40-71.

A much depleted B Team (due to injuries) host Marlborough B & lose 1-4. With absentees in abundance, Andy calls in all his subs & even an extra to field a full 5. Simon opens v Stuart Foley & it's a convincing win for Stu, 24-76. Soheil has been putting in the hours & makes a real fight of it v Dave Bradshaw, but sadly loses by a solitary point, 43-44. Tony 'Oz' Aldridge puts his white gloves away & dusts off his cue for a 1st frame in 7 years & gets his wish of a Whittenham Boys clash v Ken Cooper. Tony doesn't disgrace himself either, scoring 34 to Ken's 48. Dave stops the rot v Terry Harper with a solid 56-43 win. Andy suffers some bad run v Ade Jackson, who shows that his coaching is paying dividends with a 30-60 win.
