A Team travel to Abingdon RBL in the preliminary round of the John Evans Cup & win 1-4. Phil is drawn first v Duncan Price, who pots well but Phil fights valiantly, losing on 'run', 68-28. Cuz steps up v Nigel Archer & plays solid match-play to level with a 'pumped' 30-59 win. Tom faces Paul Archer & scores consistently, winning 24-74 to put us 1-2 up. Rowey seals the Cup win over Keith Bennett after racing to a lead, has a tactical finish but puts us in the semis with a 45-62 win. Captains knocks in a 36 in the 'dead rubber' v The Doctor, John Delfoss. League next week, away v Marlboro B, 1st game of the 2nd half of the season! | ||||||||||

B Team host Marlborough A in the preliminary round of the John Evans Cup & win 3-2. Captain Andy is drawn to open v Tony Fisher & plays a solid frame, winning 46-33 for the ideal start. Rob plays Laurence Harvey & it's a nail-biter with Rob nicking the win, 38-32 on the black for 2-0. Brian faces Craig Harper, who obviously laced up his scoring boots as he pulls a frame back, 16-61. Craig faces Steve Wetherall & it's a close frame which Marlborough take, 37-47 for 2-2. No worries, it's Anchorman v Matty Burton & Dave puts the B's in the semis with a trade-mark 54-21 win. C Team host Harwell B in the preliminary round of the Chairmans Cup & win 4-1. Captain Adam is drawn first v Dean Russell & leads from the front with a solid 38-13 win for the perfect start. Hugh faces 'Little' Ollie Mulford & it's a nail-biter, decided on the black, 38-41 in favour of Harwell. Ashley faces the experienced Bob Higginson & after getting rid of the debut nerves, carves out a winning score-line, 36-18. Baz is in-line for the 'glory leg' v Ian Cooksley & seals the winning frame to put them in the semis, 46-24. Alan plays his 'dead rubber' v Jordan Smith & returns a demolition score, 54-4. 'No stopping the C's!'. Back to League next week, home v Crown Technology. More of the same, please! |
