A Team host Crown Technology in the 1st round of the Jim Taylor Cup & win 5-0. Phil opens v Paul Claydon & plays solidly considering a few weeks out, knocking in a 27 clearance for a 91-20 win. Captain starts well with a 28 v Roger Cole, but it wouldn't be the Cup without some drama as it goes to the black for a 62-49 win. Cuz steps up to the mark his VC for the night status & puts us through with a convincing 61-24 win. Tom enjoys his 'dead' rubber with a nail-biting 69-59 win, including a 42 break v Anthony Whitton. Rowey makes it a 'full house' with a good 54-30 win over Andy Harper. Well done lads, no inaugural 'Plate' draw!

B Team travel to Marlborough B & it's a final frame decider, a 2-3 win for the B's. Andy opens v Ken Cooper & gets a 56-38 win on the pink for the ideal start, 0-1. Craig scores well v Andy Patterson, but sadly it's another 'L' on the blue, 66-38. Rob puts the B's back in front, 1-2 with a nice 19 for a solid 12-58 win v Dave Bradshaw. Brian has a right battle v Stuart Foley, potting well, but Stu nips it, narrowly on the pink, 56-48. It's down to 'The Anchorman' who faces Ade Jackson & Dave plays a frame that showed how he earnt that nick-name with a 16 to start & 33 to finish for a convincing 9-59 win to put the B's through to round 2.

C Team travel to RAF Benson to resume battle with their old foe & it's a 5th frame decider that seals the win, 2-3 for the C's. Baz opens v Rob & it's a close frame with the home team taking an early lead, 55-52. Next up is Captain Adam, determined to lead from the front & gets a convincing 38-66 win v Carl to level it at 1-1. Hugh faces Simon Perkins & it's Si who puts the home team 2-1 up with a 56-26 win. Mark plays another blinder to level it at 2-2 with a quality 6-42 win over Bryan Kettle to keep his 100%. This sets up Alan nicely for a nail-biting deciding frame v Chris... which goes to a final black, which Alan takes for a 47-50 win to send the C's through! More of the same v Harwell B next week in the Chairmans Cup please.
